Born in Modena (Italy).
Oboe studies with Sergio Possidoni, Heinz Holliger, Paul Dombrecht.
Excellent experience and inspiration gained working with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and Frans Brueggen.
His international reputation is largely due to his first recordings
(the CD dedicated to A.Pasculli, “the Paganini of the oboe” among others) that were received with great acclaim, and which brought engagements at various festivals and with major orchestras in Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, Lugano, Genève, Zurich, Basel, Milan, London, Japan and United States.
Besides being a soloist, he is an enthusiastic performer, from duo to baroque ensemble, playing historic instruments, and from wind octet to larger strings-winds groups and contemporary music.
Composers like Bussotti, Castiglioni, Glass, Möschinger, Gaudibert, Pagliarani, Hoch amd many others have written and dedicated works to him.
He has recorded more than 20 CDs with works that represent the oboe repertoire of the last three centuries best.
O.Z. has been oboe solo of the Radio orchestras of Lugano and Naples, of S.Gallen Symphony Orchestra, and of the Basle chamber orchestra.
